The Freedom Theatre is inspired by a project called "Care and Learning", which started after the first Intifada in response to depression, stress and fear among children and youth. After their "Stone Theatre" was destroyed during the second Intifada, social peace activists and the society in Jenin did not give up and rebuilt it. The "Freedom Theatre" was opened in 2006 and plays an important role in Jenin. It is a meeting place for children and youth who participate in several activities that introduce them to the culture of theatre and drama while providing them tools for handling their daily life under occupation. Freedom Theatre Jenin offers workshops in film, photography, creative writing, acting and additionally the possibility to volunteer. The perfomance schedule can be found on their website.
