About 23 kilometers to the northeast of the city of Nablus, 3 kilometers to the east of Nablus-Tubas road, and 5 kilometers to the northeast of Wadi al-Far'a road leading to Nablus and the Jordan Valley, Tammun Mountain Nature Reserve can be found.

Located in Tammun town, with an area of about 18194 dunams, it is also adjacent to the Eastern Bqaia’a Plains, which are the third largest plains in Palestine. Furthermore, the top of Tammun Mountain Nature Reserve is considered part of the upper part of the eastern cliffs of the mountains of Nablus.

The track of the journey starts from the eastern side of the town, in an intersection between the roads leading to Tammun and Tubas. During the trip, the visitor can look towards the right side of the Nature Reserve where Wadi Alhayya and Wadi Shaab, which flow into Wadi al-Far'a, can be seen.

Any visitor of Tammun Nature Reserve will enjoy exploring the beauty of flora and fauna; the different species of birds living there, some of which come from different parts of the world, in addition to the wide variety of wild plants that can be found on the sides of the mountain. While walking through the Nature Reserve, the visitor will see rocks naturally engraved in an artistic way, which reflect the creativity of the Creator.

Moreover, the visitors will see plants, flowers and different types of trees on the way. When heading to the plain area of the mountain, the visitor will have to go up and down some small rocks. In that area, the visitor can take some time to rest and to enjoy the fresh air in a location overseeing a valley underneath the mountain.

As the visitor gradually heads towards the east, he/she will start sensing the climate of the Jordan Valley, which makes the vegetation cover of this part of the Nature Reserve different from that found at the beginning of the Reserve. This difference is the result of the difference in climate, temperature, wind, and height above sea level. This part of Tammun Nature Reserve is called “Shafa AlGhour”.

Amid Tammun Nature Reserve, the visitor can see a form of a small “grave”, which is said to be “Abous’s Grave”. This part of the Nature Reserve is called “Abous’s Grave Area”.

In the state of tranquility that dwells in the Nature Reserve, you can listen to the sounds of birds, which accompany the visitor throughout the visit. A visitor can see different types of birds, such as the Short-toed Eagle, which usually builds its nests on trees that are one to two meters high above the ground and lays one egg. Furthermore, Tammun Nature Reserve is considered an ideal habitat for the common kestrel, which usually builds its nests in rocky slopes and trees as in Tammun Mountains.

In the soils of Tammun Nature Reserve, the visitor will see various types of shells; it contains over seven types of snails of different sizes that breed inside the Nature Reserve. Researchers are trying to study these different types of snails. Moreover, some Palestinians in the Valley areas collect these snails and use them as food during winter, which endangers these creatures and limits their existence in natural reserves.

Throughout the track, visitors will see and smell the beautiful scent of the Bible hyssop that is classified as a wild medical herb. In addition, in some corners of the track, the prickly burnet can be seen. This plant is considered one of the most famous wild plants found in nature reserves in the mountains of Palestine, and it is one of the plants used in the treatment of diabetes.

The visit to Tammun Mountain Nature Reserve ends by going down the mountain using a plain road. During this last part, the visitor might encounter some uses of the natural resources by the local society, as Tammun Municipality has allowed the use of some pastoral areas close to the nature reserve for the purposes of grazing livestock. This forms a serious threat to the vegetation cover and to the biodiversity of the nature reserve.

Tammun town is classified as one of the most Palestinian towns to contain olive trees, almond trees, and other fruit trees. Its residents rely on their work in agriculture and ranching as the main sources of living. The area of the urban area in the town is around 6286 dunams, and its population is estimated at about 20 thousand. The town contains a national park managed by the municipality and is considered an ideal place for rest after completing the around 13 km long walk in the Nature Reserve.
