Tomb of the Patriarchs

Tomb of the Patriarchs

In the Hebron Hills, the site is considered a sacred site for worshippers to pay homage to different prophets. The ancient tomb of Abraham and Sarah, of Isaac and Rebecca, of Jacob and Leah, encircled by huge stone walls was erected two thousand years ago. The huge shrine in the center of Hebron is built atop the cave where tradition says they were all laid to rest. Nearly all of what is seen today was built by Herod the Great in the 1st century BC and is thus of inestimable historical value as well as great sacred significance. The site is accesible from the city of Hebron.
