The Mahmiyat website emphazies the importance of the Palestinian tourism industry, and the ability of Palestinian youth to engage in tourism.

In a press statement issued today on the occasion of International Tourist Guide Day (which falls on February 21st every year), it stated that tour guides and individuals have contributed greatly in preserving components of the Palestinian cultural, environmental and historical heritage.

Mahmiyat added that the training courses for the tourist guides, which were implemented with funds from the Hanns Seidel Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Arab Tourist Guides Union as well as relevant authorities, contributed in providing a diverse tourism product. This reflects the beauty of Palestine, its culture and its historical heritage. Tour guides have an important role in creating exceptional impressions about the destinations tourists visit, and in introducing the nature and geography of Palestine.

The Mahmiyat project highlights Palestine's tourism destinations by promoting nature reserves and working on implementing various awareness programs and community events. This is in addition to issuing a number of publications that constitute a guide for tour guides and tourists alike.

Mahmiyat commends all tour guides who offer interpretations about Palestinian culture and environment, and have a passion for preserving wildlife and natural reserves.
