A thick snake with a shiny black color on its back and a grayish hue on its belly. This snake is considered the second most venomous black snake after the black mamba. The snake can adapt to living in deserts and arid regions. It grows to approximately 1.20 meters in length. Known for its nocturnal activity, especially during hot summer days, it emerges at night in search of prey and moist areas.
In addition to using its venom, the snake relies on its body muscles to constrict its prey, which often includes mice, lizards, birds, and other snakes. Despite being called the "Desert Cobra," it does not spread its neck like true cobras.
The snake possesses neurotoxic venom, and a bitten person requires urgent medical attention. It is considered one of the most dangerous snakes in Palestine, with its highly toxic venom posing a threat to human life.
