Solid waste is considered one of the most central sources of environmental pollution in Palestine, it is defined as any waste other than hazardous waste, or garbage originating from various household, commercial, agricultural, industrial and construction activities, and deposits resulting from wastewater treatment plants.

According to Article 21 of Law No. 7 of 1999 on the Environment (It is forbidden to throw, treat or burn garbage and solid waste except in the places designated for that, and in accordance with the conditions set by the Environment Quality Authority to ensure the protection of the environment).

Among the phenomena spread in the natural reserves is the spread of waste (plastic), this plastic is a danger and threat to animals and birds when they are feeding, in addition to the spread of waste significantly, which contributes to the increase the insects and the Foul odors.

Efforts can be done to reduce the volume of waste by taking a number of suitable actions such as minimizing its production and implementing awareness-raising initiatives and cleanliness campaigns within the sites and natural reserves.
